Beautifully classic vintage cake/serving plate by J & G Meakin manufacturers of fine china and earthenware since 1851.
Features a scene from Charles Dickens's classic English literature novel “David Copperfield.”
Round scalloped edge design with gold trim.
Dark coloured chrome metal cake holder handle with washers also included.
J & G Meakin SOL Sunshine trademark identification and plate information are printed on the back of the plate.
Plate Measurements: Diameter 21.5 cm.
Handle Measurements: H x 12cm.
Condition:
Some wear to gold gilt, small area of clean glaze crazing around the central hole for the handle, ‘nibble’ on the front edge near man’s foot, manufacturing ‘fleabite’ on front left bottom and a small chip on underside ‘lip’.
These are all insignificant and are not signs of damage and are mentioned for accuracy.
Otherwise, the plate is in excellent vintage condition. There are no large chips, cracks, fractures, repairs or crazing.
The cake handle has no damage and easily fits into the central plate hole.
Please note that the handle is not the original and is new.
Beautiful vintage High Teaware, great for cupcakes, muffins or dainty sandwiches!
